Hotel jobs Dubai – €“the basics

Off
March 6th, 2011

Dubai, Singapore and the Gulf states represent all sorts of things to different people.  For a lot of those who are in the hospitality sector, hotel jobs dubai and hotel jobs Gulf hold a sort of mystical appeal; we often hear that these areas offer wage rates and a quality of life that can rarely be found in similar jobs in the UK.  For those who might be thinking about hospitality jobs Singapore or in any of these regions, this article considers how working and living in this part of the world might change your life.

Dubai is one of the seven regions which form the United Arab Emirates, which forms part of the Arab states of the Persian Gulf.  Its capital, Dubai City, is thoughtby many to be one of the fastest growing and most excitingcities in the world.  The average August temperature in Dubai is 40 degrees Celsius, which helps to explain why the state is such a haven for travellers who flock to enjoy its long coastline.  Because of its rapidly hub for construction.  The subsequent growth of Dubai’s workforce has meant that other industries, particularly hospitality, have taken off in the area.  Since the 1980s, when the government created tax-free areas, Dubai became a magnet for Western professionals.  These days, Dubai City is one of the few places in the world where expats outnumber the locals.  As such, as an expatriate worker in Dubai you are likely to be amongst many like minded people in one of the most diverse, cosmopolitan cities in the world.  The working culture is very much ‘work hard, play hard’, with an average working week of around 45 hours, but a fantastic array of activities on offer from ski slopes to wave pools mean that you will rarely be short of ideas for after-work entertainment.

For people who are not enticed by hotel jobs dubai or hotel jobs Gulf, Singapore may offer a different appeal.  50% of its service sector is made up of foreign workers, giving it a similarly diverse ethnic mix to Dubai.  Singapore is the world’s fourth leading financial centre, and its port is one of the five busiest ports in the world, which gives a suggestion of why hospitality jobs Singapore are so many in number.  According to the Economist Intelligence Unit, the ‘Quality of Life Index’ there rates Singapore as having the best quality of life in Asia.

Cash Genie and your new start to 2011

Off
February 2nd, 2011

Cash Genie is a payday loans company formed to give people a bit of room in their budget – typically just for a month, so that they have time to sort things out before their next pay cheque hits the bank. Often it’s the case that our wallets get a little stretched (and none more so than at this time of year), and – even though we know there’s enough money in the long run – the cash-flow situation over the next fortnight or so is looking a little dicey. Christmas is a time when a lot of people go into debt, and for some that can mean some fairly concerning letters through the post box in 2011. It’s too easy to lose track, and even if you know you’ll be okay when your next wages are paid, that’s not generally a lot of comfort when there’s nothing in your account now, and your creditors are shouting for money and threatening all kinds of things if you don’t pay up.

These are the situations for which short-term loan companies exist. The companies should lend responsibly (and you should borrow responsibly – don’t be tempted to ask for any more than you need, as you’ll only have to pay that back, with charges, too). In practice, this means that they carry out a speedy but thorough check on your application to make sure that you’re likely to be able to repay the money. Then they give you the money instantly. There’s no messing around, once your application has been approved the money is moved to your account. The service can be expedited, or otherwise it will take the standard BACS time of three days or so to come through.

Cash Genie is pretty usual in charging thirty percent per month, and loans are only given for one month. This is a short-term solution, and therefore can’t be compared with the sort of loan you’d take out from your bank – or even a cash advance on a credit card. These typically come in at something between 10 and 30 percent per year, whereas grossed up for the year, 30 percent per month works out at 2,623 percent per annum: a vast amount. What you’re really paying here, however, is a flat fee for the use of the money for the month. It’s a one-off: don’t be tempted to roll it over and think of it like a yearly loan.

Unconventional ways of holding meetings – have you considered audio visual conferencing?

Off
January 25th, 2011

Travelling around the country, and even the world, might be a thing of the past, as companies are increasingly embracing video conferencing technology in order to organise meetings.  As new technology seems to alter our lives in small ways every day, busy professionals are finding that audio visual conferencing saves them crucial time and money.  At the more sophisticated end of the market, with technology such as telepresence video conferencing, it can be the case that a video conference is a preferable option to a normal meeting.

Like it or not, meetings are vital in business.  While emails facilitate constant communication with colleagues everywhere, the collective face to face communication of a physical meeting is sometimes the only way to reach an agreement.  But a video conference mirrors the experience of a regular meeting, but with the bonus that all participants can contribute from the comfort of their own desks, with all the information and documents they might need at their disposal.  In addition, as audio visual conferencing allows users to edit documents while participating in the conference, the exchange of information is possible on more than one level.

The most obvious bonus of organising a conference using this technology is that participants save valuable time and money on travelling.  Spending half the day on a plane in order to go to a two hour meeting seems rather absurd when video conferencing technology is possible.  This also means that meetings can be arranged at the last minute, so if there is a big issue that needs to be dealt with, it can be discussed by all the relevant parties at the crucial stage.  As the UK experiences the problems of the ‘big freeze’ and getting into work poses problems for many of us, this seems particularly important.  There can be no excuses for non-attendance at meetings when all you need is your PC.

It should come as no surprise to most people, then, that video conferencing is becoming more and more common as a way of bringing people together and sharing information.  With the prevalence of skype and video calls in private communication, we are becoming increasingly accustomed to speaking into a screen, and telepresence video conferencing should feel fairly natural to most people.  It seems that one day, face to face meetings may become a thing of the past, as audio visual conferencing is surely set to become the norm.

Rugged PC for diverse operational environments

Off
January 22nd, 2011

A rugged pc is essentially a computer that is designed to work in difficult environments – i.e., environments that provide unsteady conditions, extreme temperatures or other problems not encountered in everyday computer operating environments. Within this remit, there is a multitude of  various specifications, and these can be designed, of course, to equip the PC for operation in the specific environment in which it needs to be deployed. It could be that a buyer needs a rugged embedded PC, which is designed to function to a high level on a small range of specific tasks.  Or they could want to use their PC in transit on roads, sea or air – providing bumpy or otherwise unstable conditions – in which case they would require a rugged transport PC.

The desired specifications will depend not only on the environments in which the machine is deployed, but also, naturally, on the purpose for which it is to be used. This could be anything from military reconnaissance to editing sequences for documentary film-making for dispatch. There is a range of areas that rugged computers can be built to specialise in:

  • custom algorithms for real-time vision applications;
  • targeting solutions for Ballistics;
  • target recognition and video tracking;
  • training systems and embedded simulation;
  • imager integration and sensor control;
  • stabilized mechanisms, positioning and pointing devices;
  • image stabilisation and Fusion hardware and software

But how does the technology work? Or, in other words, how are the objectives achieved? IT has often had problems with practical deployment in situations where the user can ill-afford instability or an unpredictable machine. Practical solutions have been developed by many rugged PC suppliers to satisfy this need. For instance, computing hardware can be deployed in a tough, shock-proof chassis with conduction cooling. The fundamental point of most rugged and embedded computers is that the electronics installed within them operate in a controlled environment. Their actual components can be chosen based on their ability to operate well in extreme temperatures as well as unstable environments. In addition to this, computer systems can be designed specifically to counteract wet or extremely dusty conditions or work environments.

So the type of rugged pc you chose to buy is determined by the environment in which you wish to deploy it. Think about a rugged embedded PC for highly specific usage, or, for example, a rugged transport PC for use when constantly on the move in unstable conditions.

Cash genie can lend you a small amount as and when necessary

Off
January 13th, 2011

It is often announced by wise people that there is more to life than money, but there is no ignoring the fact that a lack of money can be extremely worrying and have a significant negative impact on people’s lives. Finding a magic lamp, rubbing it, and having a Cash Genie emerge to resolve your money difficulties is a fantasy, and impractical. There are, however, a number of ways through which the stresses and strains which can be caused by a shortage of funds can be alleviated. The resolution of such monetary difficulties can then allow people to focus on those things which are really important in leading an enjoyable and fulfilling life.

The central thing to remember when thinking about your finances is to draw up a budget and to stick to it. Sometimes, however, there can be unexpected expenses which disrupt even the best laid plans. One option if this happens to you is to take a short-term loan. If you do choose to do this you should always use a reputable company and never a loan shark. Through a reputable company you can arrange a short-term loan for the amount you need while you reorganise your finances to meet the unexpected expense. This can be a useful course of action if, for example, you know that your next pay cheque will arrive shortly, but you need money quickly to meet a sudden, but important, expense or to avoid going overdrawn.

Searching for such companies on the internet will reveal examples of the ways in which short-term loans can be arranged. Often you need only to give your details (including home address and banking information) to get access to a small loan. It is rare for these companies to check your credit rating as part of the process of arranging a loan, so if you have a very poor rating, for whatever reason, this can be a very useful facility. The important thing to be aware of, however, is that if you fail to repay the loan by the agreed deadline it is likely that your credit rating will be adversely affected, even if the amount you owe is only a very small sum.

If you frequently find that you need to borrow money to meet your financial obligations each month then other loan programs or financial advice are likely to be more beneficial. The good thing about a short-term loan is that, like a Cash Genie, it can provide a quick (if temporary) solution to a brief shortage of cash.

London schoolwear supplier saved me from a massive embarrassment!

Off
December 27th, 2010

When it comes to that time of year – the summer holidays drawing to an end, kids getting restless, even if they don’t want to admit it, they’re getting bored with having nothing to do all day – getting ready to send them back to school fully equipped can be a challenge. Personally, I always tend to make the same mistake. Well, until recently I did, anyway. I always used to think of anything and everything that they might possibly need in terms of stationary, or gimmicks, or other fun paraphernalia. In that respect my two kids would be among the best prepared in the entire school! I’m talking about silly things, like special files with secret compartments, or a compass with flashing LED lights, or an eraser in the shape of Snoopy. But I always used to forget perhaps the most important thing: school uniforms! On the Saturday or Sunday before school started again for the year, I would lay the school clothes out on a chair, look at them, and and think: the kids will have grown out of these! Then, because of my busy day job, it would always be a hassle to find a London schoolwear supplier that was open when I was free, so often I had to rely on friends, which wasn’t ideal.

Nowadays, this is no longer a problem, because I have found a supplier that can deliver my children’s uniforms, which is just brilliant. I get back from work in time to start making dinner, and usually the uniforms have been delivered to my neighbour, who kindly looks after our cat too.

I think the kids are pretty happy I have found a school uniform supplier as well, even if they don’t admit it! Essentially, it means an end to those embarrassing situations on the first day back at school when all the other kids are in their shiny new uniforms, but their shirts are too small, old and uncomfortable. I felt so bad the first time that happened! I also get their sports stuff from the same supplier now, which is great: it gives me much more time to spend on getting fun new stationary!

It’s funny, but I don’t even tend to forget about the school clothes these days. I’m not sure why, but now, when I find myself browsing in a stationary shop and picking up some kind of novelty pencil case, I suddenly think: school uniforms! And I get online so I can put an order in with my London schoolwear supplier.

Bacs software helps make the transfer of funds secure

Off
December 24th, 2010

Finance officers working for companies of all sizes in the United Kingdom rely on Bacs payments to make their working lives simpler. Storing cash, making frequent and time-consuming trips to the bank, and keeping track of the innumerable pieces of important paper needed to transfer money is a stressful and needlessly difficult chore. Many businesses now use Bacs to pay invoices, salaries, expenses and to transfer funds from one account to another for many other reasons. bacs software has, over the years, made the transfer of money much easier and is often thought indispensable by accounts departments.

Bacs was invented in the United Kingdom by Denis Gladwell in the late 1960s. The name is in fact an acronym, standing for Bankers’ Automated Clearing Services. It was designed to decrease the quantity of paper documents that were required when transferring money from one account to another. Since its invention it has been very helpful. In the twenty-first century where you can use touch-screen computers in bank branches and manage your account online from the comfort of your own armchair it is easy to overlook the amazing success of Denis Gladwell’s idea.

Software which helps to make Bacs payments from one account to another is crucially important for many companies. Not only is it safe and easy, but it can also significantly assist finance departments in dealing with their auditing requirements. Bacs software makes the financial work of many businesses more efficient and more straightforward. This frees up staff time to get on with more important work to improve the business.

Bacs also helps invoices to be paid regularly and quickly. A typical Bacs payment will normally take three working days to clear. This means that finance officers have to make allowances for weekends and bank holidays. Fortunately, now that so much of the banking and accounting process is computerised it is very rare that a finance department will miss a payment deadline. Online calendars can be used to give reminders and past payments can easily be viewed and collated.

bacs software helps to streamline financial processes at the same time as making them more secure. Accounting and finance management are key parts of a business (enabling it to run smoothly and helping bosses to plan for the future). Bacs has become an integral part of most businesses over the last forty years and Bacs payments remain one of the most popular ways of transferring money between accounts.

Chelsea builders: a crucial investment for West Londoners in the property industry

Off
December 17th, 2010

Looking for North London builders can present quite a challenge.  Everyone wants to find a builder they can really rely on, and without recommendations from friends, scouring phonebooks and internet sites for ideas seems to offer little guarantee of identifying somebody who will do the best job.  Whether you are looking for chelsea builders or Hampstead builders, the following suggestions should help you in your search and make sure your loft conversion doesn’t turn into a paid excursion for some cowboy builders.

Most people will suggest that you go for a personal recommendation, but this can be a trickier business than just getting a name from Kate next door.  People who have had building done recently on buildings and projects that are similar to the one you have in mind will be the best placed ones to suggest builders who are most suitable for your needs.  You may also consider using online forums or websites as these seem to be increasingly developing with a local specialism.  Still, as with all online suggestions, these should be regarded with a healthy amount of scepticism.  MyBuilder.com is a sort of trip advisor for building work, so you will find previous customers recommending tradespeople by leaving feedback.  You can also search for different building specialisms, which gives you the best chance of finding someone who will do the best job on your particular project.  It is often worth consulting the Find a Builder service, as the Federation of Master Builders vets all the members on its books.

You should aim to get written quotes from three different firms.  The more details you can give about the work you work, the more accurate your quote will be and the less of a shock you might end up with when the project is finished.  As with other jobs, it is worth getting references from each builder.  Rather than just chatting to previous customers on the telephone, you should if possible visit the property so that you can see the quality of the job for yourself.  A conversation about the job and the service provided by the builders will be far more illuminating than a brief conversation where you hear that they did a decent job.  Once you have chosen a builder, you will need to draw up a written contract, which should be as detailed as possible.  It is always worth taking some advice before you do this.

There are so many North London builders that it really is worth taking the time and trouble to find the right one.  As property in these areas is often very valuable, you obviously want to be sure that your Hampstead builders or chelsea builders are good enough to enhance do as much for your house value as possible.

Document management systems bring many benefits to businesses

Off
November 25th, 2010

In the twenty-first century, a time of digital systems and advanced technology, it should come as no surprise that document processing and document management are both now done with the help of computers as standard in many businesses around the world. A great number of burdensome tasks which were previously long and drawn-out, such as invoice processing, are now completed quickly, easily, and accurately with the help of this technology. The systems are used and relied upon by many top businesses and have been for years.

An up to the minute computing system has a number of benefits. Employee morale can be terribly damaged by spending time on routine tasks that could be accomplished far more quickly by using commonly available technology. Document management systems allow greater collaboration between colleagues, easy organisation of data, and simple filing of documents for the future. Old paper documents can also be added to the system so that office space can be used more productively than merely for storage. On the subject of storing documents, a computerised system can provide options for automatic storage by user, date, title, and other variables which greatly speed up and simplify retrieval of the documents in the future.

Invoice processing is a related system which helps streamline the work of businesses’ accounts departments. Using intelligent data capture software these processing systems can match invoices with purchasing orders and where necessary direct them to the relevant member of the department for approval. This greatly increases the speed with which invoices can be processed which, among other benefits, has a positive effect on businesses’ relationships with their suppliers and may enable them to take advantage of discounts for early payment.

On the data-gathering and auditing side of the business these types of system are also a huge advantage. Many businesses have been using them for years in order to keep a closer eye on important questions such as expenditure. Security and control mechanisms are easier to organise using computerised systems and the number of payment errors made can be reduced when they are installed.

In the current economic climate, many employers are worried about their overheads and about ensuring the best use of their resources. document management systems and document processing systems can free up space within the office and free up space in the daily schedules of employees. Invoice processing also provides benefits for employers because it is undeniably easier to make strategic decisions with all the information at your finger-tips.

Business proposal writing is a job requiring experience

Off
November 24th, 2010

In the complex world of business tendering, ensuring that everything is sorted out for a successful bid can be a daunting task in itself. For this reason, many companies involved in these bids use the services of bid support companies to enable them to perform a successful bid without this having a negative outcome on day to day business matters. business proposal writing is also a very intricate process, and requires a certain amount of expertise to be successful. Sales presentation training is available to ensure that staff members involved in presentations are fully equipped to carry out a well drawn-out plan with a high degree of success.

When a company works on a large bid, there are a huge number of factors to take into consideration. Gone are the days when a sales team can simply spend a week in a board room to work out a bid strategy, and have everything wrapped up in one go. These days sales teams have to watch out for differences in legislation, which makes the process all the more challenging to navigate. On top of that, there is more competition between tender bids than ever before, which can only add to the urgency of the time scale on which you are conducting business.

Your sales team needs to review and analyse prospect requirements, and then the customer offering must to be understood, reviewed and critiqued. In terms of sales presentations, a bid support company can give training in the form of workshops to help your sales team lock down the key messages in a pitch, and develop and document a detailed storyboard of the plan of action. A bid document needs to be produced, and it goes without saying that this needs to look good. With adequate training your sales team will be able to review the presentation, rehearse it and refine it until it is as close to perfect as possible. This will involve not only getting the routine perfectly rehearsed, but also learning how to deal with contingencies, such as difficult questions, or, say, an unexpected illness of a sales team member. Then you are ready to make the pitch.

These days the best business proposal writing is done by well qualified and experienced specialists. Companies that can offer your business this level of specialism are likely to be able to offer sales presentation training to your sales teams as well. These bid support companies are essential to keeping many a multi million pound bid competitive and efficient.
